The position is responsible for supervising Rangers in Charge in each of the bases, providing support and strategic direction to the operational crews as well as strategic management and operational oversight of the Mon Repos Turtle Information Centre.

    The team of three OO5 Rangers, reporting to the OO6 RIC Area Support, and in cooperation with the Senior Rangers, will support and deliver projects and programs at the discretion of the Principal Ranger, support the implementation of processes contributing to operational outcomes and engage with internal and external stakeholders as required.

    This position is based in Maryborough (negotiable), however travel to other locations may be required from time to time and may include overnight stays.

    Rangers work on a roster basis which can include regular weekend work.

    This role at the Lake Eacham Nursery (Restoration Services unit) is where the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service grow seedlings and establish plants for propagation and rainforest reforestation activities in National Parks and other natural reserves across the region.

    This role’s focus is to lead a small team of staff and to work in partnership with volunteers to identify sites for rehabilitation, plan and implement native vegetation rehabilitation programs, collect native seeds and help propagate seedling stock for rehabilitation programs with leading and progressive nursery practices.

    As a Ranger in charge, the role also includes flexibility to contribute to asset maintenance, undertake visitor management, develop and run pest programs and assist with fire management.
