    This position sits within the Northern Marine Assessment & Approvals team and is responsible for assessing applications for legislative authorities associated with public access to DESs marine estate in the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships Northern, Great Barrier Reef and Central regions, including the management of negotiations with clients about the conditions associated with proposed authorities.
    This position in will be based in Cairns or Airlie Beach or other location, however, travel to regional centres and other offices from time to time. This includes overnight stays.

    The appointee will work and contribute to a small, highly motivated team in the delivery of projects that support the promotion and incorporating the rights, interests and aspirations of Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples in the management of the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Area.

As part of a small, dynamic team, this role is responsible for a range of tasks associated with communicating with, and managing, visitors to the protected estate. Projects focus on enabling sustainable and safe recreation while ensuring impacts upon park values are carefully managed. Tasks include preparation of communication products, provision of advice and input to capital projects involving infrastructure for visitors, overseeing a range of technical systems for managing visitors and gathering information, coordination of permit assessment, tourism liaison, engagement with the community and input to the development of park management plans.     Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships (QPWS&P) have an exciting opportunity for a WOO5 Wildlife Officer to join the Northern Wildlife Operations team.

    The team operates in Mackay Queensland to deliver services to conserve and protect native and threatened wildlife with a particular focus on wildlife management. This includes working with crocodiles, cassowaries and flying-foxes. This may require safely responding to isolated and remote situations in North Queensland for extended periods of time. Tasks are likely to include operating communication and navigational systems, employing survival techniques, undertaking equipment repair, and the use of environmental indicators to make decisions.

They will also possess well-developed financial management skills, including the ability to achieve specific goals within operational budgets and take responsibility for all reporting requirements. The position is based in Agnes Water and the town of Seventeen Seventy.
