Wildlife Officers are an integral part of the Wildlife and Threatened Species Operations Branch which is in the QPWS&P Division. The Branch plays a vital role in delivering effective conservation outcomes for Queensland's native species and ecosystems and their safe interaction with the community. The WOO5's in the Cairns and Innisfail teams will assist the Senior Wildlife Officers to coordinate the team for daily, weekly and emergent operational responses. You will oversee operational maintenance for equipment, vessels, trailers, oversee wildlife husbandry and compliance for the team. This role includes working with crocodiles, cassowaries and flying foxes. Experience in contemporary wildlife management and conservation is highly desirable for this role.
