This includes supervision of the crew and delivery of the operational program. They will also possess knowledge or ability to obtain knowledge in the use of various applications and systems used within QPWS&P.

    This is a unique opportunity to work within the Mon Repos Conservation Park which includes the Mon Repos Turtle Centre. As well as undertaking general ranger duties, a key focus is on community engagement and education through the development and delivery of interpretive material around conservation, particularly in relation to marine turtles.

The successful applicant, in cooperation with the Senior Rangers, will lead and coordinate projects and programs at the discretion of the Principal Ranger, support the implementation of processes contributing to operational outcomes and engage with internal and external stakeholders as required

    The QPWS&P Wide Bay Area is responsible for management of almost 800,000 hectares of protected areas and state forests across multiple tenures from bases in Maryborough, Bundaberg, Agnes Water, Mon Repos, Monto and Mundubbera.

You will specifically be involved in a statewide program for the development of products to support the assessment and description of vegetation condition in Queensland, including BioCondition benchmarks, ecological profiles and mapping of vegetation condition for biodiversity. You will be an active member of a highly skilled team of ecologists, botanists and zoologists.

    This position reports to the Principal Ecologist, Ecologist Sciences, and is based at the Queensland Herbarium, Toowong, however field work, sometimes to remote locations, is a requirement of this position.

    As Ranger in Charge, Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre, you will lead a team and supervise multi-disciplinary operations at the site. The position works five days on and two days off, including some rostered weekend work. This position is located at Enoggera Reservoir; however, there may be travel to regional centres and other offices from time to time. This includes overnight stays.

    Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre is one of three Gateway Visitor Centres, managed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships. The Centres aim to support Queensland’s ecotourism aspirations, enhance exciting visitor experiences, build public advocacy, and provide a gateway connection to Queensland’s national parks. Partner Centres include David Fleay Wildlife Park at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and Mon Repos Turtle Centre at Bargara in Bundaberg.

The person in this role is required to support co-operative management with the Butchulla People as registered native title holders of K’gari. The person in this role is required to engage with a diverse group of stakeholders including commercial tour operators, island township communities, visitors, conservation groups. The person in this role is required to strategically plan for the future across a variety of issues.
    This position is based at the Eurong QPWS base on K’gari (Fraser Island) and will generally work Monday to Friday.
